Monica
Education:
I hold a Masters degree from the University of Phoenix in Clinical and Mental Health Counseling and a Bachelor’s degree from Excelsior College in Psychology. I am independently licensed in Arizona as a Professional Counselor and nationally certified through the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC). I am also a registered clinical supervisor with the state of Arizona.
Experience:
I have worked in behavioral health for over 10 years. Prior to private practice I worked in several different community agencies and the AZ Department of Corrections.
I held positions from Case Manager to Clinical Supervisor and understand the complexities of behavioral healthcare systems.
As an individual who has sought behavioral health services for myself and my children I know the difficulties faced as the patient, the parent, and the professional.
Treatment modalities:
My approach to therapy is primarily based on Dr. Glasser’s Choice Theory as well as EMDR. I also believe knowledge is the first step in gaining insight and I work to provide science based psychoeducation around a patient’s individual issues. I use evidence-based interventions, including EMDR, CBT, Choice Theory, and mindfulness to address a wide range of issues across the lifespan. I enjoy working with adolescents, adults, couples, and fellow military veterans.
